Approximately 11 million individuals live within this territory based on a 2006 US Census statistic, meaning that the cities of Minneapolis and Saint Paul alone possess approximately 60% of the state’s entire population. Twin Cities professional sports teams. Not only are the Twin Cities home to teams in the four most prominent professional sports leagues in the nation (MLB-Twins, NBA-Timberwolves, NFL-Vikings, NHL-Wild) but they are even home to a women’s professional basketball and football team (the Lynx and the Vixen’s respectively), a men’s professional lacrosse team (the Swarm), and a Roller Derby team (the RollerGirls)!
